I have been looking for a while for a new professional camera, and after watching video after video, and checking out reviews of many cameras I decided to delve into the Compact Systems range and purchased the Sony Nex-5.
This camera is one of a duo from Sony in the Nex range, the Nex-5 being the more powerful with the ability to shoot 1080p Widescreen mp4 and the coveted 1080p AVCHD format. When it comes to photos the camera really does shine, with the ability to shoot in 3:2 format or 16:9 format, ranging from 14MP as its highest setting (3:2) and 12MP being the highest widescreen setting (16:9), the camera really shines when it comes to taking pictures. I've yet to get it in a low light situation but from examples I have seen, I'm in for quite a surprise I can tell.
As you can see from the video above, the camera really does give amazing results in video mode, with it being accessible by a button on the back edge of the camera. All that footage was recorded in stunning 1080p AVCHD and then exported unedited into .mp4 at 720p, still maintaining that stunning quality.
I really cannot fault this camera, and a review will be following very soon once I launch the project I have in mind. And expect a lot more photos/videos to hit my Flickr & YouTube/Vimeo accounts, all of which can be found on the links page.
